West York Area School District’s Stance on Bullying Behaviors
-
The District does not condone prejudicial or bullying behavior.
-
The District has a policy that addresses discriminatory behavior: School Board Policy 103, "Discrimination/Title IX Sexual Harassment Affecting Students," and Attachment 2 to Policy 103.
-
The policy prohibits discrimination not only on the basis of sex but also on the basis of "race, color, creed, religion... sexual orientation, ancestry, national origin, marital status, pregnancy or handicap/disability."
-
-
Incidents of bullying (including cyberbullying) should be reported to building administrators in a timely manner.
-
Reports may also be made through the Safe2SaySomething website. Click on the image to learn more about Safe2Say or to make a report. Reports can be made anonymously.
-
There is also an app that can be downloaded from the Apple Play or Google Play stores.
-
-
Upon becoming aware of any concerns or allegations, the district's school administrators conduct a swift and thorough investigation, which may involve gathering statements from staff and students.
-
If it is determined that corrective measures are necessary, we will inform the parties involved to the extent allowed by law.
-
-
The District's ultimate objective is to provide a secure, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where students thrive and learn how to become exemplary citizens of the world
-
All our students, faculty, and staff participate in comprehensive programs that foster understanding, inclusivity, and respect, demonstrated through explicit lessons teaching our expectations, code of conduct, and core values at each level.
-
-
The District asks that parents, guardians, and family members support us in creating an educational environment that fosters empathy and respect.
-
Please stress to your children the importance of kindness toward others at home.
